Bukit Beruntung - 21st August 2015

We played the West Course at Bukit Beruntung, which for many was a brand new course none of us had played, with the exception of Tony Morris who is a member at this club. Although the East Course is always stated to be the better course we were pleasantly surprised at the East Course which had some interesting hole layouts and design. The only negative comments would be the slow and bumpy greens and the very poor bunkers. 

The weather was great, with clear skies, although by last few holes on the back 9 it was getting steamy. The course was relatively quite other than the few random Koreans who insisted on buzzing past us in their buggies and going ahead to play the hole ahead. Our group was not held up at all. 

We took lunch in the club which was reasonable and fairly cheap.

It's a real shame that this club is rather run down and dilapidated as the course layouts are great and the large club and facilities could potentially be wonderful .... just needs a large input of cash .... and I guess some paying customers.

Results

The winner today was Stuart Taylor with 35 points and the best gross of the day of 86. Runner up was Allan Wright with 33 points and a gross of 101. Full results below :

Rotten Egg Award

No award this week ..... Tony was almost going to be nominated as we thought his membership card which he left for us was not going to get us any discount. However we did get member's price so we relented on the nomination. However it was also a close call given the Troy Tempest from Stingray look-alike photo on Tony's membership card as shown below .... almost a nomination in it's own right!!

Kundang Lakes Country Club - 14th August 2015

When you hear the term "Country Club" this conjures up a luxurious club with wonderful facilities, great food, service and first class sports facilities. When you turn up at Kundang Lakes Country Club this illusion is sadly distorted with a very basic clubhouse, poor changing rooms and a course that is rather rough around the edges. However this course has its charm and for all its faults has a wonderful layout and is a pleasure to play. Weather was good and the course was in reasonable shape given although the greens were very slow and with the slops on some proved very troublesome to many. We had 9 players today and we were off sharp at 7:35 and all back in the clubhouse .... sorry .... shack by 12:00. We had lunch at the Heng Hin Restaurant in back down the road and close to the Rahman Putra Golf Course.

Results

The winner this week was Hans Berger with 37 points and a gross of 91. Runner up was Brian Stubbs with 36 points and a gross of 98. Best gross of the day was Stuart Taylor with 90. Full results below :

Seri Selangor - 7th August 2015

Seri Selangor was in great shape today and the greens were very good if not excellent - some very fast making it tricky. Weather was good but by 2nd nine it was hot and steamy. We had 11 Eggers today - it would have been 12 but Brian Stubbs called off as he thought he would have trouble getting home as he lives right in KLCC area where the city Grand Prix was taking place. The course proved difficult for most people with only one player beating their handicap.

After the game 8 of us had lunch at Pantai Seafood where they had a special lunch deal which was attractive.

Results

The winner was Peter Davies with 38 points and a gross of 95 - well done Peter. Runner up was Cameron McAinsh with 35 points and a gross of 97. Best gross of the day was Richard Rodwell with an 89. Full results below:

Rotten Egg Award

We had a couple of nominations today; one for Jeff Pearce for not putting in his RM10 and disappearing with the scorecard (he showed up late for lunch and DID put in his money), and Mike Smith for leaving the game without paying his bet to the players he was playing with. Mike was duly awarded the coveted Rotten Egg for not paying his debts.
