Seri Selangor - 18th December 2015

8 Eggers played today at  Seri Selangor for the final game of 2015.

Due to the recent heavy rain the course was ‘boggy’ in places however the greens were in pretty good condition.  The course was busy and posed it’s usual difficult but enjoyable challenges.

This was reflected in the score with nobody managing to play to handicap.  Winner on the day was Peter with 33 points followed closely by Richard on 32 points and Graham in third on 29 points.

All 8 Eggers enjoyed lunch at our favourite Pantai Seafood Restaurant with cold beer served through out the meal for the first time ever.  This was achieved by phoning 2 hours in advance and requesting the bottles to be placed immediately in ice for future consumption.

All Eggers were well behaved therefore no nomination for the rotten egg award.

Next game will be played on Friday 8th of January due to the next 2 weeks being Christmas Day and New Years Day.  General consensus was to play again at Seri Selangor followed by Glens favourite Nyonya Fish washed down with ice cold beer.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all Eggers and Family members a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Seri Selangor - 13th November 2015

A record 16 Eggers took to our home course of Seri Selangor today and we would like to welcome first time eggers Geoff McLaws and Carl Wombwell.

As usual the course was very challenging with tight fairways and very fast greens causing many Eggers on several occasions to take more than 2 putts.  This was reflected in the scoring with no one playing to their handicap.  The winner today was Jeff Pearce with a respectable 33 points followed closely by Geoff Mclaws and Greg Mackley both on 32 points.

Lunch was taken at Sun P J Seafood restaurant, which was well organised in advanced by Birthday Boy Glen.  12 Eggers made it to lunch and were delighted with the quality of the meal and service.  Many thanks to Glen for also paying for the beers in celebration of his Birthday

Rotten Egg Award

The first automatic rotten egg goes to Barry for not contributing the mandatory 10 ringgit towards the winner for lunch.

We then had 2 nominations over lunch for the rotten egg of the day.  Glen for losing his ball in the rough and acting very “smarmy” when it was found by his fellow golfer.  Tony for playing out of turn when all the other eggers in his flight were still waiting to play and also for complaining on a par 3 when his tee shot landed 10 feet from the green which he subsequently birdied.  Tony was unanimously voted to receive the egg by all except for Carl who wanted to give the award to his Father.

Seri Selangor - 16th October 2015

We had 3 flights today with a total of 11 players. We got off to an early start by 8:00am on the 1st tee with good conditions - still slightly hazy. The course was in good shape and the greens excellent. WE were all finished by 12:30 then had lunch at the Sun PJ Restoran with some great vegetable curry, wonderful pork knuckle and numerous beers - drinks kindly sponsored this week by Mike Smith who was paying off his 3 Eggs - thank you Mike.

Many thanks to Glen for arranging the Eggs games whileI was away in UK.

Results

The tough course had its usual impact on the scores with only one person breaking handicap .... Richard Rodwell won with 38 points (and best gross of 84), with runner up being Jeff Pearce on 32 points. Full results below :

Rotten Egg Award

We had one almost self-nomination Rotten Egg award today with Jeff Pearce managing to hit himself on the head with his driver as he exited the buggy - he ended up with a large "egg" on his head. However during the course of the lunch it was mentioned that Andrew Robinson had complained about his club being slippy ...... his new rescue wood still had the polythene wrapping on the grip ..... so he was duly awarded the Rotten Egg of the day.

Seri Selangor - 18th September 2015

If you ever get a little blasé or perhaps a little too cocky about your golf then it's time for a visit to Seri Selangor - this course will bring you down to earth. It is a tough and challenging course and one where most of our members do not score well. We had 7 Eggers today and we managed to get started just in front of a large group of brightly coloured ladies playing in a competition. Weather was good and the course was in good condition with the exception of the front 9 greens which had just been sanded and caused some putting consternation.

We finished by 12:30 then headed to Pantai Seafood for an excellent lunch. Stuart kindly sponsored the drinks to clear his balance of 3 Rotten Eggs and because of the money left over from registration plus some more in the kitty it was a free run for everyone else.

Seri Selangor - 7th August 2015

Seri Selangor was in great shape today and the greens were very good if not excellent - some very fast making it tricky. Weather was good but by 2nd nine it was hot and steamy. We had 11 Eggers today - it would have been 12 but Brian Stubbs called off as he thought he would have trouble getting home as he lives right in KLCC area where the city Grand Prix was taking place. The course proved difficult for most people with only one player beating their handicap.

After the game 8 of us had lunch at Pantai Seafood where they had a special lunch deal which was attractive.

Results

The winner was Peter Davies with 38 points and a gross of 95 - well done Peter. Runner up was Cameron McAinsh with 35 points and a gross of 97. Best gross of the day was Richard Rodwell with an 89. Full results below:

Rotten Egg Award

We had a couple of nominations today; one for Jeff Pearce for not putting in his RM10 and disappearing with the scorecard (he showed up late for lunch and DID put in his money), and Mike Smith for leaving the game without paying his bet to the players he was playing with. Mike was duly awarded the coveted Rotten Egg for not paying his debts.
