Kinrara Golf Club - 25th September 2015

Report from Allan McNicoll

Ten players teed off at Kinrara and although there was a threat of rain at the start, it stayed dry. The course was in good condition, especially the greens. Winner on the day, with an excellent gross of 82 for 45 points was Barry Sage. Well played Barry. After the game we had lunch at The Annex, which as usual was very good, thanks Andrew. I head back home on Wednesday so I think either Iain or Glen will arrange next weeks game. Hopefully I will see you all again soon, either in KL , or Cape Town?

Seri Selangor - 18th September 2015

If you ever get a little blasé or perhaps a little too cocky about your golf then it's time for a visit to Seri Selangor - this course will bring you down to earth. It is a tough and challenging course and one where most of our members do not score well. We had 7 Eggers today and we managed to get started just in front of a large group of brightly coloured ladies playing in a competition. Weather was good and the course was in good condition with the exception of the front 9 greens which had just been sanded and caused some putting consternation.

We finished by 12:30 then headed to Pantai Seafood for an excellent lunch. Stuart kindly sponsored the drinks to clear his balance of 3 Rotten Eggs and because of the money left over from registration plus some more in the kitty it was a free run for everyone else.

Results

Glen Wombwell was our winner today with a very respectable 34 points on this tough course. Runner up was Zak Zainal with 32 points ocb from Hans Berger also with 32 points. Best gross of the day was Stuart Taylor with 91. Full results below :

Rotten Egg Award

None awarded this week.

KGSAAS - 11th September 2015

We had 3 full flights today at a rather hazy KGSAAS, teeing off on the Alam Shah & President 9's at just before 8:00am. Course conditions were good and the greens running very well, albeit sometimes difficult to read - luckily we had some good caddies today who gave us some excellent lines on the greens.

We had two late comers today .... Barry Sage and Richard Rodwell who both get automatic Rotten Eggs.

All 3 groups were finished shortly after midday then we lunched at the club in the Chinese Restaurant. Allan McNicoll kindly coughed up for drinks to cancel out his 3 Rotten Eggs - thank you Allan.

Results

Some good scores today which is normal at this course but the clear winner with a tremendous gross 80 and 43 points was Tom Holmes. Runner up (on count back) was Richard Rodwell. Best gross of the day was Tom Holmes with his 80. Full results below :

Rotten Egg Award

We had a few nominations today ..... Robert Mulliss for forgetting his money, Allan Wright for loudly  trying to count his score many times while other were putting, Robert Mulliss for 6 putting (seriously 6 putts!!!!) .... but the winner(s) were Stuart Taylor and Peter Davies for singing "Down By The Junction Box" to Barry Sage on numerous holes whenever he got near the junction box of the lights.

Berjaya Hills Golf & Country Club - 4th September 2015

Berjaya Hills although a 45-50 minute drive from KL (35 mins if you are Richard Rodwell!) is always a pleasant environment with the cool fresh mountain air at high altitude. However the pleasant scenery and fresh air was not enough to make up for the rather poor condition of the course. It was not only fairly unkempt with very poor bunkers but the the greens were really shocking with large swathes of sand over them. Some of the hole cups were in very bad shape - uncut and ragged making the whole putting exercise a bit of a lottery. Buggies were also in poor shape so not really a good experience overall and I don't think we will be returning there for a while or until we get better report of improved maintenance.

We had 2 full flights today and it was a bit slow going with 2 groups up ahead of our 2 groups taking rather a long time. We took lunch at Restoran 126 down the hill at Kampong Bukit Tinggi which was good but not quite as memorable as previous occasions.

Results

The winner (again!) this week was Hans Berger with 33 points and a gross of 95. Runner up (on count back from peter Davies) was Richard Rodwell with 32 points and a gross of 90. Best gross of the day was Richard and Stuart who both had 90. Full results below :

Rotten Egg Award

Tony Morris was awarded the Rotten Egg Award of the day for dubious drop from a hazard closer to the hole and playing out of turn.
