KGSAAS - 22nd January 2016

8 Eggers played today at KGSAAS.  Check in was normal, slow and frustrating however we managed to tee off on time playing first the President 9 followed by the Alam Shah 9.  The fairways and greens were in very good condition and the weather was cool contributing to a very enjoyable round. Scoring was generally pretty good with most players managing to score 30 or more stableford points.  The winner on the day was Mike Smith with an excellent gross of 94 and 37 points followed closely by Greg on 36 points and Allan on 34 points.  Lowest gross was Richard with 89 shots.

Lunch was taken at the club (not the Chinese Restaurant upstairs) and the service and quality of food was generally satisfactory with a couple of exceptions.  Allan ordered the chicken curry potato dish and was most upset that it came without potatoes.  After several minutes of polite discussion between Allan and the staff regarding his missing potatoes Allan decided just to eat his chicken curry potato dish minus the potatoes.  Lunch was washed down with 6 jugs of beer thanks to the promotion of buy 2 jugs get 1 jug free.  After the bill was paid another jug was bought and paid for followed by another jug.  Andrew then asked for the free jug which was refused as the 2 jugs were paid on separate bills.  To refuse Andrew alcohol was a big mistake.  After 10 minutes of illogical conversation Andrew finally demanded to see the supervisor who eventually agreed to give us the free jug.  I think if Andrew carried on arguing he would have eventually found Allan’s missing potatoes.

Next weeks game as nominated by our winner is Kundang Lakes (just can’t get enough of this fabulous county club).

KGSAAS - 6th November 2015

11 Eggers played at KGSAAS today.  Although check in was slow we still managed to tee off around 8am with 2 flights starting at the President 9 and the remaining flight starting off the Sultan 9.  It was noted than Tony Morris was slightly late (most unusual) due to having to make a visit on the way for some relief (not the pick and clean variety) and was awarded a rotten egg accordingly.

The weather was threatening to rain with flashes of lighting however we were fortunate that it stayed dry during the round.  The course was generally in good condition with a few ‘boggy’ patches on the fairways due to the previous night rain and the greens were in very good condition.

Winner on the day was Peter Davies with 37 points followed by Mike Smith on 34 points and joint third on 33 points was Zak and Allan.  Lowest gross was Richard Rodwell with a score of 88.

10 Eggers stayed for lunch at the usual Chinese restaurant on the first floor.  The food was average, however the prawn dish was sent back after Richard spat his prawn onto the table followed by many complaints from other Eggers that the prawns were definitely off.  The cost of the food and beer was not good value and the consensus of the group was to look for an alternative venue in future.
No rotten egg was awarded today except the standard one for being late.

KGSAAS - 11th September 2015

We had 3 full flights today at a rather hazy KGSAAS, teeing off on the Alam Shah & President 9's at just before 8:00am. Course conditions were good and the greens running very well, albeit sometimes difficult to read - luckily we had some good caddies today who gave us some excellent lines on the greens.

We had two late comers today .... Barry Sage and Richard Rodwell who both get automatic Rotten Eggs.

All 3 groups were finished shortly after midday then we lunched at the club in the Chinese Restaurant. Allan McNicoll kindly coughed up for drinks to cancel out his 3 Rotten Eggs - thank you Allan.

KGSAAS - 26th June 2015

Ramadan is a great time for getting good golfing deals and KGSAAS were offering a Ramadan rate of RM110 inclusive of green fees, buggy and caddy .... good deal .... but even better their Senior Rate was RM93 for green fees, buggy and caddy ..... so 8 of us seniors got our round of golf for under RM100 on an excellent course.

Furthermore the place was empty ..... we did not see anyone else playing till we were on about the 6th or 7th hole so it was like we had the course to ourselves.

Weather was excellent and the course was in great shape - the greens very good. Our 2 flights got around in about 4 hours and then has lunch at the excellent Chinese Restaurant at the club. Robert Mulliss kindly paid for the drinks as penance for him reaching 3 Rotten Egg Awards - thank you Robert.

We had a few nominations today over lunch including Robert Mulliss for losing his marker as he marked a ball on the green, Peter & Stuart for sniggering (at Robert Mulliss) but the outright winner agreed by all was for Erol Akinci for managing to putt his ball through the legs of Mike Smith as Mike was lining up to putt.

KGSAAS - 13th February 2015

It was a beautiful morning and the course was relatively quiet so the 3 x 3 ball flights made good time round the President & Sultan 9's. It was good value for Seniors ... RM98 for green fees/buggy/insurance and caddy! The course was in good shape but some of the greens had been sanded. After the game we had a good lunch and some beers in the club Chinese restaurant  - Jeff Pearce had 2 lunches as he had already taken some lunch after finishing his game at the downstairs cafe!

There was a very clear winner today - Peter Davies played the best round he has had to date with a gross of 92 scoring 45 points! Runner up was Tony Morris with 36 points (gross of 91). Full results below.

Rotten Egg Award

There were a number of nominations today - Jeff Pearce being accused of not paying for his Teh tarik and Glen having to cough up for this as Jeff had gone to the practice putting green. He had in fact paid for his drink ..... and seemingly the confusion arose because Andrew Robinson had arrived very early at the club .... more than 1 hour before the rest of us ... and had ordered a drink which he sent back twice .... so the extra drink charge was obviously his. He was duly nominated the Rotten Egg Award due to 1) being very early to the club and 2) causing confusion over the drinks order and not paying for his extra drinks.

An honourable mention however must go out to Brian Stubbs who texted in that he couldn't play as he had woken up with a rash all over and although he thought it was an allergic reaction he did not want to contaminate his fellow golfers. Almost a nomination.
