Results - Templer Park Country Club - 25th July 2014

Taking the last opportunity of cheap Ramadan golf rates we decided to play at Templer Park Country Club this week. We had 9 regular Eggers this week plus a guest of Allan McNicoll's (John Porteus) making a total of 10 players. We got off on two tee boxes after minor confusion at the start with the 3 balls being made to use the old large buggies (much to the grumpiness of Mike Smith). Andrew Robinson just made the club in time after a late lie in due to some over indulgence the evening before!

The course was in great shape and the weather conditions perfect giving us wonderful views of the limestone peaks surrounding the well manicured course. Greens were fast but true. As always this course plays long and as usual no one beat their handicap.

Results

The winner today with 35 points and the best gross of the day (87) was Kevin Wiggins making that back to back winning the last 2 weeks. Second was John (sorry Brian) Stubbs with 34 points. Full results below:

Rotten Egg Award

We had a number of nominations this week including Andrew Robinson for selfishly ordering wine and food at the restaurant but forgetting about getting some beers ready for the lads, Tony Morris for teeing off BEFORE the ladies group in front of them on the Par 3 .... but the clear winner this week was Mike Smith (getting his very first Rotten Egg Award) for writing the wrong name of his playing partner Brian Stubbs on the card .... he wrote down "John" and for his general worse-than-usual grumpiness at the start of the day when he complained bitterly about using the old buggies.

Golf Ruling Situation

Our group had a rather interesting situation on the short Par 3 on the back 9 (Hole No 16) when Allan McNicoll played a second ball from the tee (his first hit the tree high up and never came down!) and this 2nd ball landed short of the green and was sitting squarely in the middle of a large leaf on the fairway as shown in the video below. He had to play the ball as it lay .... and with the wind blowing the ball in the leaf was rocking from side to side ..... he executed this perfectly and chipped straight onto the green then 2 putted for a 6!
