Results - Kuala Kubu Bharu Golf Club - 3rd October 2014

After much discussion previously about playing some of the more rural and eclectic golf courses in Malaysia we decided to play Kuala Kubu Bharu Golf Club. This small town is on the road up to Fraser's Hill. The original 9 hole golf course was extended some time back to a full 18 holes and Andrew Robinson expounded its virtues detailing the scenic course, and the small club complete with beer and food available ........

8 Eggers pulled up to the clubhouse on Friday morning before 8:00am after about an hours drive from KL. The club was very much in disrepair, the pool was empty and the rest of the building more than a little sad.

However after registering and paying our RM50 a head, 4 buggies were brought round and although they were in very bad shape and most uncomfortable ... they did make it all the way round the 18 holes.

The course was rather unique .... apart from being in fairly bad shape the course layout and design provided many surprises ... blind tee shots, large boulders, deep cavernous ravines and wet boggy areas that you would not venture into .... along with the usual jungle and deep grass. Signage on the course was very bad so it was like solving a puzzle sometimes to find the next hole.

We all eventually got round the course although at times it felt like a commando training course with many of us losing quite a few balls in the process. We then showered (being pleasantly surprised on the good showers and the fresh new towels!) and then drove down to KKB for a very good lunch at a small Chinese coffee shop along with very much needed cold beer.

Results

Mike Smith was winner of the day .... although the final scores were different than originally posted. Mike originally posted a score of 30 points .... but in fact only scored 28, thereby tie-ing with Allan McNicoll ... but won on count back anyway!!

As the scores tell ... this was not a course for good scores.

Rotten Egg Award.

A number of dubious Rotten Egg Awards were put forward including one for Andrew for suggesting we play KKB and yet another self-nomination by Robert ..... however no confusion was reached so we will let this week pass.

Results - Kinrara Golf Club - 26th September 2014

After a few weeks on non-play due to many of the regular Eggers being away from KL for vacation we got a Friday game underway again this week. Kinrara Golf Club is a little gem of a course - well maintained but tough little course and is very close to town.

We had 9 Eggers today under good weather conditions and we completed the round by 12 or shortly thereafter at which point we retired to the Sports Annexe at the Selangor Club for lunch, drinks and prize giving.

Results

Winner of the day was Stuart Taylor with a gross of 88 and 33 points. He was also awarded a "trophy" donated kindly by Peter Davies for the best score of the day .... this trophy was a small egg cup with a golf ball from St Andrews .... many thanks Peter.

Rotten Egg Award

Over lunch we nominated Andrew Barber for the Rotten Egg Award due to him skipping off after the game and not contributing the RM10 into the kitty for the winner.
