Kundung Lakes - 23rd January 2015

After many months of suggestions and pestering from Robert Mulliss to play Kundung Lakes we decided to play there this week. Ironically it was Robert Mulliss who pulled out from the game having remembered he was away that Friday.

So there were only 4 of us on the day - and what a beautiful day it was with clear, blue skies and a gentle breeze. The drive to Kundung Lakes via Sungai Buloh meanders through small kampongs and rural areas which make it an ethnically interesting drive. Arriving at the clubhouse we immediately noticed there was none there to take our bags from the car - so we had to carry our own bags over to the dismal looking clubhouse. Registration was easy and the price most attractive - only RM60 per head with buggy. The changing rooms were spartan and had an interesting water feature or reverse fountain ..... with water cascading through the roof onto one of the changing benches.

The course was quiet and we teed off on the first 9 which was a straight forward dog-leg left par 4. Half way down the first fairway Mike Smith was stranded in his buggy and eventually had to reverse the buggy all the way to the green having lost forward gear. A phone call to the clubhouse and soon the buggy was changed out.

The first 9 holes were quite pleasant but the back 9 Lakes holes were very scenic. Course condition was probably better than I expected although very much run down. The greens and bunkers were in good shape and although slow the greens ran very well. With some money injection this course has some potential to be very good with the layout and the scenery.

We finished by 1pm and then tried the delights of the shower room. The showers were ok .... I had warm water but some others didn't. After our shower we had an amusing incident with Allan McNicoll not being able to get into his locker - he thought he had lost his locker key and started to suspect one shady looking character who had been in the changing room. After being convinced he had lost his wallet, phone and keys we decided to call his phone ....... a loud ringing noise was immediately heard from one of the closed lockers. After numerous attempts to find the correct locker we eventually found his personal belongings in Stuart's locker. What had happened is that Stuart had emptied his locker before taking a shower and took all his personal valuables with him to the shower. Allan then used Stuart's locker by mistake to lock his things away .... hence the confusion. Old age and failing brains are becoming the norm with our golfing groups.

We then headed back to Sungai Buloh and had lunch at the Chinese restaurant we usually go to after Rahman Putra games ..... a good lunch and a few beers were enjoyed kindly sponsored by Stuart who was celebrating his Birthday the next day.

Results

Scores were not good on this course - the winner was Mike Smith with 32 points and Peter Davies was runner up with 30 points. Results posted below:

Rotten Egg Award

We had two nominations this week for a Rotten Egg Award. The first one was of course for Robert Mulliss for requesting this course numerous times and then backing out to play before the day ..... this was unanimously carried. The second nomination was for Allan McNicoll and the debacle in the changing room with his locker key ..... also carried.
